BATAVIA, December 6, 2011 – The Batavia Triathlon and Duathlon is pleased to announce the addition of Joe LoPresto as Race Director for the 2012 event, taking place on June 10, 2012 in Batavia, IL.

”The Batavia Triathlon is thrilled to welcome Joe as the event’s new Race Director. His past experience as a Race Director, his knowledge of the Batavia Triathlon from a coach’s and participant’s perspective, and his commitment to the sport of triathlon make him extremely qualified for the position,” said Noel Basquin, Founder of the Batavia Triathlon.

LoPresto is Founder and Head Coach of Experience Triathlon Coaching Services and is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach, Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica and is an experienced Race Director, having founded the annual Experience Triathlon Indoor Triathlon Series along with other various successful events.

He is also an accomplished age group triathlete and runner, recently competing at the USA Triathlon National Championships. He has competed at all levels, from 5K to marathon run distances and Sprint to Ironman distance triathlons.

“I’m excited to be a part of this outstanding event,” said LoPresto, “The team athletes and coaches of Experience Triathlon have enjoyed participating and volunteering at Batavia over the last 8 years. This race has always been extremely well run and we love that it benefits local charities. I’d like to thank past Race Director, Anne Elbaor-DeTraglia (previously Whitcomb) and Founder Noel Basquin, for their many, many contributions. I look forward to working with the community, volunteers and local businesses to produce an exceptional experience for all the participants.”

As the premier triathlon of the Western Suburbs, the Batavia Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned sprint distance charity event which has helped many deserving non-profit charities over the years including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training, Batavia Food Pantry, Batavia MainStreet and other local organizations.

Registration for the 2012 event will open on January 1st.
